East Knoxville
2017-18 Community of the Year

East Knoxville will be Keep Knoxville Beautiful's Community of the Year from July 2017 through June 2018. For this fiscal year, we will focus on East Knoxville for cleanups, education, and beautification projects--while still helping out in other parts of the county. Here is what we accomplished:

  • August 8: Gold's Gym cleanup of Cherry Street
  • August 15: Ignite Serves cleanup and graffiti abatement in Burlington
  • August 16: Ignite Serves cleanup and graffiti abatement in Burlington
  • August 26: Accenture Consulting Firm's cleanup of Williams Creek
  • September 2: TVA-sponsored cleanup of Williams Creek
  • September 9: Bus-Stop Trash Hop litter cleanup on Magnolia Avenue
  • September 9: Odd Fellows Cemetery Seating Project with Reanimation Coalition
  • September 16: Tree Planting at Morningside Community Center
  • September 24: Mabry-Hazen House Clean-up
  • September 27: Johnson University Day of Service at the Center for Urban Agriculture
  • October 5: UT Alternative Break cleanup of Morningside Park
  • October 7: TVA-Sponsored Williams Creek Cleanup
  • October 13: UT Students Burlington Cleanup
  • October 18: Holston River Park Cleanup
  • October 21: Daffodil Bulb Planting at Sarah Moore Green Magnet School
  • December 2: Bus Stop Trash Hop litter cleanup on Magnolia Avenue
  • December 9: Urban Orchards Tree Planting at various locations in East Knoxville
  • December 16: Flower bulb plantings at Odd Fellows Cemetery and in the Burlington Commercial District
  • January 20: Magnolia Ave. Cleanup by CAC AmeriCorps members for their MLK Day of Service
  • January 20: Parkridge Cleanup by The Knoxville Area Urban League
  • January 27: South Chestnut Street Cleanup
  • February 10: Love's Creek Road Cleanup by Alpha Delta Pi
  • February 24: Tank Strickland Park Beautification by Townhall East
  • March 10: Fuller Avenue Cleanup by the Morningside Neighborhood Association and Elkmont Exchange
  • April 14: Morningside Park Tree Planting
  • April 21: Zoo Knoxville Party for the Planet
  • April 27: MLK Jr. Ave. Cleanup with the Emerald Youth Foundation
  • April 28: EarthFest at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens
  • April 29: Morningside Park Cleanup
  • May 5: East Knoxville Cleanup
  • May 10: Green Magnet Academy Field Trip
  • May 31: Trash Run at Last Days of Autumn Brewing
  • June 2: Recycling trailer at Zoofari
  • June 15: KEEN Urban Canyoneering Adventure
  • June 27: Story Thyme at the KBGA

East Knoxville Survey
