The main details:
*The community-wide South Knoxville Cleanup will be held on Saturday, March 30th from 9 am–12 pm. The event will kick off at Sam Duff Park, located at 4060 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville TN 37920.
*Participating group leaders will meet at the kickoff location to pick up supplies and then disperse into their designated locations to pick up litter (Individuals who are not with groups can join the effort to clean the streets surrounding Sam Duff Park).
*Keep Knoxville Beautiful will provide the following equipment:

This is EarthFest’s 20th year anniversary! To celebrate, our theme is 20/20 Vision. This theme hopes to explore ways Knoxville and EarthFest has engaged in sustainable practices for the past twenty years, as well as showcase what sustainability in the area will look like in the next 20 years. We are hoping to bring local leaders, small businesses, and corporations to share their vision or their products that will help 2020 look greener.
New this year: “Ask the Expert”. Small one-on-one sessions will give you the opportunity to talk to local experts about a broad range of green topics including, home weatherization, solar energy, zero-waste/recycling, composting, urban gardening, micro plastics, etc.
Be on the lookout for environmental lead-up events as well as sneak peaks of the EnviroCharacters attending this year!
The event will be held at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum.
Parking will be available at the Community Evangelistic Church 2650 Boyds Bridge Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914 . There will be a shuttle from the church parking lot to the event lawn throughout the day. A scenic meandering foot path will also take you to the event (ground may be uneven).
The botanical Gardens is serviced by the Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) Route 34 bus system and it operates on weekends. Please visit the KAT website for more information about routes.
EarthFest is an annual Earth Day celebration with several green objectives: provide family-friendly (pets included) environmental education, support our sustainable local marketplace, showcase responsible environmental leadership, and demonstrate low- to zero-waste principles.

The Power of Produce (PoP) Club provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. In addition to participating in educational activities, PoP Club kids receive vouchers to spend, allowing them to make their own shopping decisions at the market. PoP Clubs are found at farmers’ markets across the country, and Nourish Knoxville brings this program to multiple Knox County farmers’ markets.
Keep Knoxville Beautiful will be hosting the January 5 PoP Club. Kids are invited to make their own reusable market bag from recycled t-shirts.

With Halloween just gone, we want to Keep Knoxville ‘Boo’tiful by picking up the Halloween litter that is left behind. There is no designated route for the event; rather, participants are encouraged to spend an hour running or walking and collecting litter in the area. Keep Knoxville Beautiful will provide maps, gloves, bags, safety vests, and litter pickers.
At the conclusion of the run, runners are invited back to Hops and Hollers to hang out and have the opportunity to win prizes! Participants will also receive $1 off beer.

North Broadway will be closed to vehicles from E. Glenwood Ave to Emory Place.
People of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to walk, ride bikes, dance, and much more in the streets - all in a setting that is fun and safe!

Join Keep Knoxville Beautiful for a unique musical event: the 2018 Rocky Top Pickin’ Party. This music-filled night will feature the musical talents of Roger Alan Wade and Marigold Moon, at the historic Mabry-Hazen House, just one mile east of downtown Knoxville.
This family-friendly and waste-free fundraiser for KKB is unlike any other in Knoxville. In between sets, pickers of all levels will form break out pickin' parties around the grounds. Bring an instrument to join the sessions and receive a free beer/beverage. There will be food trucks on site. Beer will be provided by Elkmont Exchange, and cocktails from Sugarlands Distilling Company will be on offer. All proceeds from beer and cocktails will benefit KKB.

As summer bids farewell, it's time to clean up its "mess." A relatively cool and wet summer were a boon to the plants of Mabry's Hill, but they need a healthy trim before the arctic airs of late fall and winter set.
Mabry-Hazen will hold a fall grounds cleaning day on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Only have 2 hours?
No worries, all are welcome to come and go as they please.
Activities will include leaf and brush removal, mulching, dead tree removal, garden bed weed removal, and general grounds cleaning. Some tools will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring rakes, shears, shovels, tarps, pruners, trowels, and similar yard and garden tools.
The Mabry-Hazen House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located on 7 acres atop Mabry's Hill. Housing three generations of the same family from 1858-1987, the Mabry-Hazen House was occupied by both Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War.

School starts in a couple weeks and that means Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett’s Back to School Bash is just around the corner. The annual event, Burchett’s last as County Mayor, is an opportunity for students to get free school supplies, have a “Shoney’s KidCare ID” made, and enjoy activities, special programs, vendors and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Thousands attended last year’s event, and Mayor Burchett is looking forward to another great event this year.

The Office of Neighborhoods will host its first resource fair, Neighbor 2 Neighbor, on Thursday, July 26, 5-8 p.m. at Cal Johnson Recreation Center, 507 Hall of Fame Dr.
Neighbor 2 Neighbor’s mission is to create a meaningful space to bring active residents together with local and non-profit resources. It will also facilitate create meaningful discussion among neighbors and community partners.
This year, we will be hosting at least one public cleanup a month in our Community of the Year. This will help make a bigger impact in North Knoxville and create more volunteer opportunities for you!
Our first cleanup will be on Saturday, July 21 from 10AM-12PM. We will be tackling Happy Holler; the cleanup will involve both litter pickup and graffiti removal. Volunteers will meet at the Knox County Central parking lot, 1000 N. Central.
