Cleanup in the Holler

This year, we will be hosting at least one public cleanup a month in our Community of the Year. This will help make a bigger impact in North Knoxville and create more volunteer opportunities for you!

Our first cleanup will be on Saturday, July 21 from 10AM-12PM.  We will be tackling Happy Holler; the cleanup will involve both litter pickup and graffiti removal. Volunteers will meet at the Knox County Central parking lot, 1000 N. Central.

Be sure to register for the cleanup to let us know you will be there!

The Office of Neighborhoods will host its first resource fair, Neighbor 2 Neighbor, on Thursday, July 26, 5-8 p.m. at Cal Johnson Recreation Center, 507 Hall of Fame Dr.
 
Neighbor 2 Neighbor’s mission is to create a meaningful space to bring active residents together with local and non-profit resources.  It will also facilitate create meaningful discussion among neighbors and community partners.

North Knoxville Community Cleanup

We are looking for many helping hands to join us for our first annual North Knoxville Community Cleanup rain or shine!

The main details:

*The community-wide North Knoxville Cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 8th from 9 am–12 pm.  The event will kick off at Edgewood Park, located at 3109 Ocoee Trail Knoxville, TN 37917.

*Participating community leaders will meet at the kickoff event to pick up supplies and then disperse into their own neighborhoods to pick up litter (Individuals who are not with groups can join the effort to clean the streets surrounding Edgewood Park).

*Keep Knoxville Beautiful will provide the following equipment:
      litter pickers
      gloves
      garbage bags
      safety vests

The Power of Produce (PoP) Club provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. In addition to participating in educational activities, PoP Club kids receive vouchers to spend, allowing them to make their own shopping decisions at the market. PoP Clubs are found at farmers’ markets across the country, and Nourish Knoxville brings this program to multiple Knox County farmers’ markets.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful will be hosting the July 14 PoP Club. Kids are invited to make their own reusable market bag from recycled t-shirts.

The fair is free and open to the public.

Join us for a weekday cleanup of Cumberland Ave. in partnership with the Cumberland Avenue Merchants Association. This cleanup will kickoff a campaign to encourage businesses along Cumberland Ave. to pick up litter around their properties and keep the area clean. Please meet us at the Copper Cellar (parking available in the back lot near White Ave). McDonald's will be providing free coffee and biscuits for volunteers to help jump start the morning!

Join us for a creek cleanup in Farragut! We will be cleaning a section of Turkey Creek that runs along Turkey Creek Harbor Greenway. We will walk down the greenway, through a wooded path to the creek, and clean upstream until we reach the historic dam. All supplies will be provided including waders, safety vests, litter pickers, trash bags, waterproof gloves, and water bottles. Please park across the street from the residential address provided.
